Testing in practice
Anyone who has tried a hand in constructing a test would agree that test
development is a difficult and at the same time challenging task. Hoping to make the procedure of test construction a down-to-earth experience for my students, I’ve tried to deal with the process from the scratch. So, the materials on this page focus on language testing in practice in a step-by-step fashion.
To be exhaustive in dealing with nearly all language skills and components, I have adopted a more analytic rather than integrative approach in listing the test kinds and formats. This may impose some limitations on the type and formats of the tests introduced here, but it is perhaps the only way to list as many test formats as possible.
The contents are specially useful for both ESL language teachers and B.A. students as they are required to develop tests of various types as part of their teaching endeavors or as the requirement for “language testing course”.
